Crossfit Vernon is hands down the best Crossfit gym. I moved to Vernon from Vancouver 2 years ago and it is superior to any Crossfit gym I experienced in Vancouver. The coaching, programming, cleanliness and members are exceptional.
Awesome facility. This box has a lot of space and great, new equipment. The coaches are very friendly and knowledgeable. I dropped in for a couple of works out and felt very welcome by the other participants and the coaches. You need to register online before showing up.
I moved to Vernon 3 summers ago and the first thing I did was sign up for on ramp. Great coaching staff, friendly members and huge facilities with lots of equipment!
Crossfit is intimidating. Most people think this. They are not wrong. It *is* intimidating, even after 2.5 years. Every day I look at the workout and think "I can't do that! Can I do that?". I started out in Crossfit Vernon's Lite program as I was too intimidated by the "regular" program and I thought it would be a better fit for me, who had never done any gym or weight related activities in 40 years of living. I had an amazing 6 months doing Lite. I found my feet and began to really look forward to the 3 days a week I had committed to. Then I became a bit obsessive and signed up for unlimited, going 5 days a week. Six months in I convinced my friend to join but the Lite times didn't work for her so I agreed to start the "regular" classes. And it too was amazing. I began to change. Body, mind, and spirit started to grow. In the last 6 months I've achieved things I never thought someone like me would or could do. I can do handstand pushups, I can do pull-ups, I can skip double unders, I am working on countless other movements and all under the guidance and encouragement from an incredible group of coaches, and the students/athletes/normal people that gather there. Yes some people there are very talented, competitive athletes but many more are regular people like myself who show up, work out and then go about their normal day. I wasn't ever planning on writing a review for CFV as I don't think they need it, the place speaks for itself. But there are just too many days that I leave there and glow all day (and not just from my red sweaty face) because of it that I should let other people know. If you are afraid, I was too. If you are nervous, I still get nervous. If you are intimidated, wait until your on-ramp when ripped, good looking people greet you and watch you do basic movements you thought you knew how to do. But you will get better, and you will begin to glow and your body will thank you. Thanks Crossfit Vernon, you've changed my life.
I have visited a number of other boxes in North America and I absolutely love everything about CFV - the community, facility, programming, WODs and coaching are the best!
